Burning Brightly
Allowing Your Soul to Shine

When we hide and try to be invisible and unseen by all we are only really hiding from ourselves.

At times, we’ve all wanted to crawl under a rock and hide away from the world. We may have preferred to be invisible and not let other people see us or notice that we exist. This wish not to be seen often happens when we are feeling very hurt, angry, or simply weary of the world. And while we may console ourselves with the defense that we are shy, an introvert, or a loner, we may actually be hiding.

When we hide and make-believe that we are invisible, we can think that we no one sees us even though, truthfully, we are only really hiding from ourselves. And while we may try to live life as inconspicuously as possible, we only succeed in becoming more conspicuous because people can’t help but notice that we are trying to hide our light. None of us are meant to hide; each one of us radiates a unique brilliance that is meant to illuminate the world. When we try to dim our light, we diminish the natural radiance of the Universe, and we deprive the people around us of the unique gifts and talents that we are here to share.

Stepping out of the wings and letting your light shine is actually a way to serve the planet. We each have a responsibility to give to our community, and we do this when we let ourselves be seen. It doesn’t do anyone any good when we try to hide. We are all beings of light and we are here to light the way for each other. When we let ourselves shine, we become a bright mirror that others can see their own reflected brilliance through, and they can’t help but want to shine also. Shine your light out into the world, bless those around you by sharing your gifts, and watch the universe glow.

Reflections of Self. We Are All Mirrors for Each Other

•August 7, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Reflections of Self
We Are All Mirrors for Each Other

People you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them as well.

When we look at other people, we see many of their qualities in innumerable and seemingly random combinations. However, the qualities that we see in the people around us are directly related to the traits that exist in us. “Like attracts like” is one of the spiritual laws of the universe. We attract people into our lives that mirror who we are. Those you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them. Simply put, when you look at others, you will likely see what exists in you. When you see beauty, divinity, sweetness, or light in the soul of another, you are seeing the goodness that resides in your soul. When you see traits in others that evoke feelings of anger, annoyance, or hatred, you may be seeing reflected back at you those parts of yourself that you have disowned or do not like.

Because we are all mirrors for each other, looking at the people in your life can tell you a lot about yourself. Who you are can be laid bare to you through what you see in others. It is easy to see the traits you do not like in others. It is much more difficult to realize that you have those same traits. Often, the habits, attitudes, and behaviours of others are closely linked to our unconscious and unresolved issues.

When you come into contact with someone you admire, search your soul for similarly admirable traits. Likewise, when you meet someone exhibiting traits that you dislike, accept that you are looking at your reflection. Looking at yourself through your perception of others can be a humbling and eye-opening experience. You can also cultivate in you the traits and behaviours that you do like. Be loving and respectful to all people, and you will attract people that will love and respect you back. Nurture compassion and empathy and let the goodness you see in others be your mirror.

Discovering True Selves

•August 5, 2011 • Leave a Comment

The soul is the purest expression of an individual and is not bound by physical forms or fleeting emotions.

When we want to see deeply into the heart and mind of another person, soul seeing, also called soul gazing, allows us to see their soul. The soul is the purest expression of an individual and is not bound by physical forms or fleeting emotions. Through a simple art that involves looking deeply into a partner’s eyes, soul seeing can show you a person’s inner beauty that you might otherwise miss. It is possible for someone who appears cold to have a warm, giving, nurturing soul or someone of average appearance to have a beautiful soul. Soul seeing is a way of looking past shapes, sizes, attitudes, and behavior to see the real individual that lies beneath the surface. It allows you to see the true essence of another person, the radiance of their being, and their spirit within.

Soul seeing is accomplished by sitting face to face with another person. It is helpful to first state your intention before you begin. As you stare softly into each other’s eyes without stopping to look away, each of your souls is revealed to the other. Try not to look for anything in particular or seek traits you’re hoping to find. Simply let the other person’s soul show itself to you. After twenty minutes have passed, stay where you are and share a period of silent reflection with your partner for two minutes. You may have suddenly seen your partner’s inner nature as clearly as a bright day, or you may need to meditate on your experience before you feel comfortable with your impressions. Either way, soul seeing can be a wonderfully intimate and shared experience.

So little of who each of us is can be captured by our appearance or personality. The thoughts, fears, desires, and longings that are part of what makes us whole are not always written across our faces. Often, the most surprising thing you may learn while soul seeing is that while you and the other person may seem on the surface to be quite different, you actually share many of the same inner qualities. And then there is the unique beauty that resides within that is longing to be revealed to another who is willing to see. Soul seeing can help you experience the people in your life as they truly are, beyond any mental barriers or physical limitations.

Let It Flow

•August 4, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Tears are as natural to us as breathing and there is beauty in allowing yourself to be open to the pain of tears.

How wonderful it feels to give in and let tears flow when we are overwhelmed with emotions, whether we are happy or sad. Tears come from the soul, from our well of feelings rising from deep down. When we give in to the prickling behind our eyes and the lump in our throat to let tear drops fall from our eyes, we allow our feelings to surface so they can be set free.

Proud parents shed tears of pride in a child’s accomplishments, a baby’s first step, birthdays, and graduations. Long lost friends fall into each other’s arms, tears rolling down their cheeks when they reunite after years of separation. Tears may flow from us when we are witness to a commitment being made at a wedding or even while we are watching a love story. Tears of relief may spring forth from our eyes when we hear that a loved one has survived an ordeal, and tears may fall when we bow our head in sorrow over a loss or death. Tears born from heartache can flow like they’ll never stop, whether our tears are for a love that is over, a friendship lost, or an opportunity missed. We shed tears because of disappointment in ourselves, tragedy in the world, pain, and illness. Tears of anger can burn with emotion as they fall down our faces. Tears offer us a physical release of our feelings.

Shedding tears can sometimes make us feel better, although it can feel like the tears will never end once the floodgates are open. There is no shame in letting tears flow freely and often. Tears are as natural to us as is breathing. There is beauty in allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to shed tears. Open up, release your tears, and let your feelings flow.

The Weight of Objects

The Weight of Objects
Clearing a Space for Change

We hold on to material objects because we think they make us feel secure, when in reality they are cluttering our lives.

In life, we tend to have an easier time acquiring possessions than we do getting rid of them. Just as we harbour emotional baggage that is difficult to let go of, our lives can tend to be filled with material objects that we may feel compelled to hold on to. Most people are not conscious of how much they own and how many of their possessions are no longer adding value to their life. They fiercely hold on to material objects because this makes them feel secure or comfortable. While it’s true that the ownership of “stuff” can make you feel good for a while, it seldom satisfies the deep inner longings that nearly everyone has for fulfilment and satisfaction. It is only when we are ready to let go of our baggage and be vulnerable that it becomes possible to recognize the emotional hold that our possessions can have on us.

It’s not uncommon to hold on to material objects because we are attached to them or fear the empty spaces that will remain if we get rid of them. Giving away the souvenirs from a beloved voyage may feel like we are erasing the memory of that time in our life. We may also worry that our loved ones will feel hurt if we don’t keep the gifts they’ve given us. It’s easy to convince ourselves that unused possessions might come in handy someday or that parting with them will cause you emotional pain. However, when your personal space is filled with objects, there is no room for anything new to enter and stay in your life. Your collection of belongings may “protect” you from the uncertainties of an unknown future while keeping you stuck in the past. Holding on to unnecessary possessions often goes hand in hand with holding on to pain, anger, and resentment, and letting go of your material possessions may help you release emotional baggage.

When you make a conscious decision to fill your personal space with only the objects that you need or bring you joy, your energy level will soar. Clearing your personal space can lead to mental clarity and an improved memory. As you learn to have a more practical and temporary relationship to objects, positive changes will happen, and you’ll have space to create the life that you wish.

What do you think?

Fear of Change

•July 2, 2011 • Leave a Comment

“Metathesiophobia.  The fear of change.”

What would our lives be without change? Without change we would never be here, because we require change to grow, not only into our physical specimen, but into our brain as well. We have been changing since the day we were born, and even before we were born, learning new things that we need to survive, and things we need in order to be able to live a meaningful life.

Change is also necessary for the growth of our personal lives. We cannot possibly be the person that we are destined to be by remaining the same and resisting maturity. We have to persistently change and change for the positive so that we may be able to grow into the person that God plans for us to be, and to achieve the goals we may have set for ourselves. Don’t fear change, fear remaining the same, because the more that things change, the closer you are to success.

Have a wonderful weekend of change. [Big smile] Blessings and love Binki ♥

If You Don’t Know Me By Now

 An Interview with Michele McCain

What have you been up to Michele?

I’ve just got back from a 22 day whirlwind tour of America. I did a movie; ‘Implosion’, a German/ Catalan collaboration which will be out this year. I had a really fun television show called ‘Ho Pots Fer’ in Majorca this summer, it’s a variety show with singers, dancers, magicians, comics… a little bit like a Majorcan ‘American Idol’. The new album is coming out.  One of the reasons for going to America was work in the  D Street studios in Philadelphia with the master Gene Leone.  We are working with people from all over the world.

Are you planning a new tour?

We want to tour America and Europe this year.

How did a New Yorker find herself living in Majorca?

I’m an ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ refugee [laughs]. I did ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ on Broadway; I toured the whole world with it. I played every place in Europe just about. We were in Majorca and one day, I was watching the sunset and I said “you know what, this is one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen” I decided I’m staying.

How have you adjusted to life in Europe?

I’m like a fish in water here. I’m happy. I’m a black American woman born in Brooklyn, raised in an Italian neighborhood. I have always had a European spirit. I love this old world thing. I love Europe, if you learn to integrate with people, Europe is very welcoming.

Speaking of integration, did you ever any have struggles with the language barrier?

I was in the German version of Barnum, with Freddy Quinn of “I’m just a Gigolo” [sings]. So I had to learn German, I had to learn Spanish to do the Spanish version…I just did not know the show in English.

Who did you listen to growing up?

When I was a girl I would play Barbra Streisand records all the time. I think that’s how my voice probably grew! I went for the big guys, the big guns, Streisand, Warwick, Bacharach…. I love Burt Bacharach, any song of Burt’s just drives me crazy. I grew up singing those songs, but only to myself. Nobody knew I could sing. I didn’t.

Is that when you realised your dream of singing?

I started out as a dancer. In America you start to take your dance lessons when you can walk I didn’t start to really sing until I was in my late 20’s.  A friend took me to see ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’. I was so mesmerised, I said “I want to be up there, in that show, on that stage.”

What would the little ‘Ms. M’ think of you now? Would she be proud?

She’d say “you go girl”

Have you any regrets?

I would probably save more money [laughs]. No I don’t have any regrets. If I did do something I shouldn’t have, I hope I learned something positive from it.

What inspires you Michele?

Life inspires me.   The only thing I can give is my music. I have been very fortunate to work with a lot of very good people some very great artist!

Out of all wonderful people you have worked with, who would you love to work with next?

Kid Rock baby!

You have traveled all over the world, what began your love of Mother Russia?

I have had two concerts in Russia, it is one of my favorite places in the world. The Red Square is fantastic!! All the architecture, the food, the people…I have always had the greatest of welcomes there…And I have friends here in Spain from there and I am treated as a good friend!

Michele you sound as though you are having a great time?

I’m having a great time with life. BKR and I have our own company called Marivent Music International. We make the music we like and we love all music! When we went to Philly to the Gamble & Huff studios, we put our hand on the on the door to open it, they were playing ‘If you don’t know me by now.’ Benjamin and I thought it must be a sign…But that’s another story!

My dreams are like the ocean.

•July 19, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Ocean_by_xiwik

My dreams are like the ocean.
Never ending, captivating, and deep.
They’re dangerous and messy,
Yet beautiful and calming.

My dreams are like the ocean.
A vacation away from reality,
Yet are more real than anyone could imagine.
They overtake the burdens of my life.

My dreams are like the ocean.
So powerful and inspirational.
They sway my imagination,
And shake my thoughts.

My dreams are like the ocean.
So open and wise,
Opening the doors to a whole new world…
My world.

My dreams are like the ocean.
I can be a pirate, an artist, a rock star,
Or a delicate dancer, the star of a ballet.
Be anything I want to be.

My dreams are like the ocean.
I can see the peaceful night sky and twinkling stars,
Or an enchanted castle reaching for the sky.
See anything I want to see.

My dreams are like the ocean.
I can feel a lion’s soft, velvety fur,
Or the warm embrace of a mother’s hug.
Feel anything I want to feel.

My dreams are like the ocean.
I can smell the fresh saltiness of an ocean breeze,
Or the thick sweetness of wildflowers under the summer sun.
Smell anything I want to smell.

My dreams are like the ocean.
I can taste the warmth of a grandma’s fresh homemade cookie,
Or the frigidness of my favorite ice-cream nipping at my tongue.
Taste anything I want to taste.

My dreams are like the ocean.
I can hear the roaring crowd of the super bowl surround me,
Or Bhethoven’s first symphony.
Hear anything I want to hear.

My dreams are like the ocean.
Always changing and never the same.
Hearing, tasting, smelling,
Feeling, seeing and being anything I want.

When suddenly…
By only the quick “Beep!” of my alarm clock,
All is gone.
Vacation’s over.

I unwillingly kick off my blankets,
And lift my sunken head from my lazy, snuggled down pillow.
I open my heavy eyes,
Only to face reality once again.

Until the night returns
And I return to my world,
My vacation.

For my dreams are like the ocean.
Never ending, captivating, and deep.
Beautiful and calming.
Powerful and inspirational.

The Creator gathers all……

Surreal_Reality_by_Xingz

The Creator gathers all the
Animals and says: ‘I want to hide something from humans
Until they are ready for it – the realization that they
Create their own reality’.

‘Give it to me. I’ll fly it to the Moon,’ says the Eagle.

‘No, one day soon they will go there and find it.’

‘How about the bottom of the ocean?’ ask the salmon.

‘No, they will find it there too.’

‘I will bury it in the great plains,’ says the Buffalo.

‘They will soon dig and find it there.’

‘Put it inside them,’ says the wise grandmother mole.

‘Done,’ says the Creator. ‘It is the last place they
Will look.’

WHAT HAPPENS IN HEAVEN

•June 25, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Promises_of_Heaven_by_mooboy
WHAT HAPPENS IN HEAVEN

This is one of the nicest e-mails I have seen, and it really puts things into perspective..

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, ‘This is the Receiving Section.
Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received.’

I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world..

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section..

The angel then said to me, ‘This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them.. ‘I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. ‘This is the Acknowledgment Section,’ my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed ‘How is it that there is no work going on here?’ I asked.

‘So sad,’ the angel sighed. ‘After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments .’

‘How does one acknowledge God’s blessings?’ I asked.

‘Simple,’ the angel answered. Just say, ‘Thank you, Lord.’

‘What blessings should they acknowledge?’ I asked.

‘If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy .’

‘And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity.’

‘If you woke up this morning with more health than illness … you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day .’

‘If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation … you are ahead of 700 million people in the world.’

‘If you can attend a church without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world. ‘

‘If your parents are still alive and still married…you are very rare .’

‘If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you’re unique to all those in doubt and despair.’

Ok, what now? How can I start? If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you want, pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

ATTN:
Acknowledge Dept.:
‘Thank you Lord, for giving me the ability to share this message and for giving me so many wonderful people to share it with.’

If you have read this far, and are thankful for all that you have been blessed with, how can younot send it on????

I thank God especially for all my family and friends!!
